Tuscan Wedding Cake in Italy – Topsy Turvy

In this five tier topsy turvy cake, the force of the butterflies are literally lifting the hand piped, pearl-covered cake off the ground.

The 100 edible  butterflies were inspired by a vintage brooch and are painted in gold, reflective purple, and green jewel tones.

For this cake I wanted to create the effect of the moment when the butterflies break free from their cocoon and take flight to begin their new life.
