Luxury Wedding Sweet Table, Vincigliata, Tuscany

Sometimes more, is more. For this wedding we decided to make a huge impact with a full cake table. An extravagant sweets table featuring elaborately decorated wedding cakes, mini cakes, cake pops, and cupcakes. Miniature desserts embellished with edible jewels, sugar flowers, and hand-piped details. And then of course the cakes themselves. 5 main cakes in total! Talk about a WOW effect!!!

When I think about wedding cake design, so much comes down to all the other parts of the wedding and creating flow. And this was so true for this wedding. So it feels important to give a shout out to main vendors, who make it possible for me to do what I do.

First, Laura Frappa of Exclusive Italy Weddings. When I think of her work, I think glamorous style. We’ve worked together in the past. Which is something I love, because I can adapt what I do to what I’ve learned she needs. And she doesn’t always book me. If a couple really just wants any cake, I’m not her girl. She calls me, when she needs amazing. So that’s what I design for. She gave me a color scheme, and a general idea of what she wanted. I think there might have been a photo of a cake the couple loved. The silver, pink, sugar hydrangia petals. Lots of piping. Lots of Detail. Glamor. And then a full sweet table to match. And then she just let me go create. Which I LOVE!!!

While I’m not a fan of fresh flowers on cakes (see my whole thing on it in the Q&A section) I love, love , love amazing floral arrangements. And I take a ton of inspiration from the florist. I work quite a bit with Tuscany Flowers, and have over time learned their style. Which is very classic and rich. While there are no flowers on the cake table (see above), Tuscany Flowers who designed the florals for the rest of the wedding was a huge inspiration for the design. Again lots of crystal and silver in their overall look.

And then the Castle. Another of my favorite venues. Castelo di Vincigliato is a medieval Tuscan castle on the hill of Fiesole, overlooking Florence. I’m not European, so I see it every time and get excited. Because it’s a castle! With a drawbridge! How exciting is that. And if all of that weren’t enough. Fireworks. There are always fireworks there.

And all of this went into creating the sweet table that you see now. The vision of what the wedding was going to be like. What the rest of the room and wedding were going to look like.

While you can see the design in the picture, what you can’t see are the flavors. Which included white chocolate pistachio, salted caramel truffle, terra di sienna, and “not your momma’s fruit cake”.

It was such an honor to create this gorgeous wedding cake table, and I am so grateful to all the people who make it possible for me to do what I do.
